These Makes Me Want To Have A Kid!

"Okay so really, I want to buy these but I dont have a kid...! Quick! Someone impregnate me! Haha kidding. But really, I wouldnt mind having one if they're gonna be wearing these cute little things. Oh they're gonna look sooo good!"

This was my reaction when I got to see these cute lil shirts from Googoo & Gaga.

I actually love graphically designed shirts, Im just not stylish - or artisty- enough to wear them, so what better than to pass it off to someone else who cant say anything on the matter hehe...kids!

Here's their story:

"In late 2007, newly-married and finding ourselves constructively
restructuring our lives to include each other and a charming 8-year old little
man, we resolved to take small but quick steps towards creating a fun, healthy,
family-oriented environment. Having another baby was a priority, hence,
independence from employment and going the entrepreneur route were very easy
decisions to make. Fast forward to late 2008, out of our day jobs and realizing
we were going to be in each other’s faces 24/7, googoo&gaga was born. It
came both as a motivation to propagate AJ’s kind of art and an inspiration while
we eagerly anticipate having our own baby. It is also representative of who we
are individually – AJ is the spunky, audacious, creative maverick, while I am
the organized, uncomplicated traditionalist. With imagination, structure,

WHO DESIGNS googoo&gaga PRODUCTS?

AJ Dimarucot is a graphic artist based in Manila, Philippines. He belongs to a growing group of contemporary artists that have blurred the boundaries between art and design.

AJ has been part of group exhibits in Manila, Canada, and has held his first solo show in Manila in 2006. His works have been published in books in the U.K., Spain, Australia and New Zealand. As a former Art Director at OgilvyOne Worldwide, he worked on websites for Nike and Nokia.

AJ’s current focus is on t-shirt and apparel graphics. He has won several t-shirt design contests over at Designbyhumans.com and Threadless.com. His work has been picked up by giant retail store Urban Outfitters, Hot Topic and bands like Panic at the Disco and Paramore.

Heard of BDJ's Fair this Weekend?

The people behind the great Belle De Jour planner are organizing their very first fair this Saturday to formally launch their 2010 planner, as well as it being a fundraiser for people affected by Ondoy. As per their email:

"The get-together will hold talks with experts on beauty and fashion as well as
accomplished women in their respective fields. We have various booths and lotsa
activities lined up for you, check the details below, and register! =) As part
of BDJ’s social responsibility, the BDJ Fair is also a fundraising activity for

Filipino Bag Designer : Paul Herrera

If you have not heard of the designer Herrera twins, then its safe to say you are not 'in' with the Filipino fashion crowd. The twin I'll be featuring today is the outspoken, uber friendly and maka-GG twin, Paul Herrera.

Paul Herrera will not claim to be just any designer, but a bag designer. Paul got his start in the bag designing business when he worked for the famous Amina Aranaz for a couple of years.

As well as newspaper & magazine editorials - the latest of which is a feature in Metro mag this month - Paul also showcased his collection at the Philippine Fashion Week and sold literally most, if not all of his bags after the show. One of the celebrity customers during that night is Philippine Fashion Week TV host Sarah Meier who, if Im not mistaken, bought 2 bags, one of which is the most popular V bag. V because Im not sure if it was the Vertigo or Venom. :D

A couple of weeks ago Paul had his evening bag launch at Naomi in SM Megamall. Naomi is a fine jewelry store with most pieces ranging more than P100,000 each. They will now also be the exclusive distributor/retailer of Paul Herrera bags. The story goes, all the bags launched were sold the first hour of the event, during cocktails, before the mini fashion show and that due to public demand, he was forced to put out more bags he had already designed before.

What's different about Paul's bags is that he is "anti-mass production". Meaning, if you are lucky enough to snatch a bag from him before it sells out, you are assured that you have a unique piece right there.

Suffice it to say, the launch was a success as literally only a couple of bags were left not sold, as of this writing. Stylebreak's Skeleton Tops

I was bookmarking Multiply shopping sites in my browser last night when I came across Stylebreak. I have actually seen their stuff before (they're on my contacts list) and know they're more of the edgy, punky look with all the ripped bottoms they're selling.

I was attracted to their stuff, but know that the style just isnt me. Im more into the elegant, sexy, cutesy look, although on some days I do go haywire and just dress pretty edgy.

I love looking at ripped skinny jeans, i.e...

... but they're crossing the line for me. So when I was checking their stuff out again, I came across this gorgeous top which I am just salivating over till now:

Have you heard of Graffinis yet? I just only heard, or 'saw' it today.
Graffinis are bikinis whose prints are from New York grafittis hence, "Graffinis". Cool name huh?

My Digierm Exerience At Tony & Jackey

I was a few minutes late because I didn’t know where to find the salon inside the mall. I thought it would be relatively easy but I didn’t know there was more than one bldg. In SM North Edsa. I had made an appointment beforehand so as not to waste my time and money going there and be told that they’re fully booked. I had read a review that Jacky was there and he was great.
I asked the receptionist if they had a package for perm and she told me about the P5,000 one. As I knew that they also had the P3,000 package, I asked for it. No need to spend more than whats needed. As Im sitting on the waiting chairs I noticed that they greet everyone who comes in.

Its now 2pm (my appt was set at 1:30pm) and I still haven’t been attended to yet. I am well aware of their “pseudo-policy” of attending first to those who get the more expensive treatments, as it was posted so with another girl’s experience in a forum. In 15 mins I’ll be going to the reception. My patience doesn’t last too long and if this takes hours, I don’t want to miss my dinner engagement.

Five mins more. The chairs are packed. I dunno where they’ll seat me if I raise a ruckus. Hopefully I don’t have to.

So I went there and asked if it was going to take any longer. Nicely, mind you. Actually all I said was, “Miss, wala pa?” with a smile.

I explained that I wanted to be finished before 6pm since I had a dinner thing. I don’t know why, I swear I was all but mean to her, but she looked scared nonetheless, as well as the Korean guy ‘manager’ standing next to her. She sorta whined that she had already informed Jacky that I had arrived. I nodded and while I asked her the difference between the two pkgs, I noticed the Korean guy signalling to Jacky and he stopped what he was doing , went to me and assisted me right away. I was kinda embarrassed about that coz truthfully, I wouldn’t have minded waiting since I allotted the whole afternoon for this, so I can wait a bit more just as long as I was done before 6pm. I finally decided to get the P5,000 one since its for colored hair (the P3,000 is for virgin, uncoloured, unrelaxed/rebounded etc hair) and its milder.

Now at 2:40pm, my hair’s being treated with the hot oil they have.

I didn’t want a haircut at first when Jacky suggested a trim and he correctly guessed that I didn’t want to have my hair shorter than it already is for the perm. So he said all he was just going to do is to thin my hair for the perm so it wont look “buhaghag” and too volumized afterwards, which I agreed to.

Before my curls were done I showed Jacky what kind I wanted, see pic below.

He informed me that that was done by curling iron and that he’ll make a similar one for me. He also asked me if I had relaxed or rebounded my hair in the last 3 yrs. I told him I did probably like 2 years ago. He said that if that is so, there’s a possibility that the bottom ends of my hair wont curl. I just told him to go ahead with it and he said we’ll see when its finished. I doubted that my hair wont curl since my hair’s all wavy now (w/c is the natural form of my hair), no signs of it being relaxed and my hair’s always been a good follower hehe.

He also informed me that my curls were to be done from the top of my ear level down. I wanted to have it from my chin down coz I was nervous that my curls would make my face bigger than it already is. He said the ear level is better since my hair is not that long yet and if we did what I wanted, I would end up with one curl on some of my hair so there you go, we went with everything that he said. I just love stylists who have their own opinions and know what would look good on you, as its pretty apparent that we the customers usually don’t really know what works best for us.

There were waiting times in between as Jacky also had these other clients. I noticed that from the time I arrived he had clients non-stop and usually handled 3 clients at one time, juggling them. I thought that maybe he is that good. From the time I arrived till I left the place was always packed, with people waiting in line at the couches and also people standing outside, looking in on the salon, I really don’t know why. It looked like they were watching a huge tv screen and the show was all the action inside the salon.

I loved talking with these 2 ladies while they heled style my hair. We mostly talked about Cebu. That's the stylist Jacky right behind me.

After countless hours in their horrid chair, I was finally done. Jacky showed me how to blowdry my hair so it would look great each morning and gave me some more tips. Do not wet hair for 2 days (gasp!). To my surprise – and probably his too. Kidding! – my hair looked great! It was exactly what I wanted and I was so happy he was able to give it to me. He said that my curls actually looked great and I said that I liked it too. None of that small curls or those spirally curls.

All in all I was there for at least 4 hrs, max 5. All in all with the P5,000 package I had a hot oil beforehand, then haircut, then the perm, then the hair manicure. Worth your money aint it?

Cons:

The receptionist should be able to answer any question you have and be able to suggest the best thing for you, instead of withholding information (r.e. their P3,000 pkg).
The chairs. They’re just the worst. Im the kind of person whose butt wont hurt after hours and hours of sitting but after hour two in their chair, my butt was aching so I always had to switch positions to ease the discomfort. They should have had a comfy chair ready for those inevitable clients who have to stay and sit for hours on end.

No credit card omron. Cash only. But this is robably because their branch is still new.

Pros:

Jacky. And this makes all the difference in the world. I loved his suggestions, and he gave me what I wanted. He made all the cons worth it. FYI don’t expect that he will do everything himself. He has lots of clients so his other assistants do most of the work but he does guide them and is there for the important stuff.

I just realized when I got home that I gave him the wrong tip. I was supposed to give him more than what I left at the counter for him but I forgot. Now Im sort of embarrassed that I might have given him too low of a tip.

You know how they say to tip 10% of your total bill? If your bill’s P5,000 are you really supposed to give up another P500? Just wondering.

I dont think many people know that there is an Alice in Wonderland movie coming out next year. The movie is still under production and lo and behold, Tim Burton is working on the film, as well as the best actor of all time, Johnny Depp.

I like that Tim Burton is directing the film because as his previous movies, instead of the all bright colored, cheery tale that everyone would expect, his talent is in making these tales just darker than normal... r.e. Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, etc. I'm pretty curious how this film will turn out now that he is helming it. I only sometimes go to the moviehouse but this will be one film I am looking forward too, as well as Up and Twilight. :)

Did I mention it stars Johnny Depp? I am sooo awestruck by his talent. Everytime he acts in a movie, it totally makes me forget that its Johnny Depp acting as his character, as opposed to lets say, Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt - they're soo typecasted. Johnny Depp makes me forget that he's acting in a movie. Instead, all I see is Edward, or Jack Sparrow, or Willy Wonka. No trace of him the actor throughout the movie. Thats whats so amazing about him. I think I will just die if I get to meet him.

"Dear Richard (Branson, owner of Virgin Airlines),

I may have been to quick to swear off your airline for good. On Tuesday I found myself flying from Charlotte to Los Angeles on US Airways. I had just started enjoying my complimentary snack pack filled with six bagel looking chips and two pretzels when a man in the back row of the plane suddenly got up. Nothing unusual about this except for the man was wearing no clothes. Now, this was entertainment. You should take note that a live production on a plane is much more exciting than the drivel you call in flight programming. The man proceeded to walk up and down the aisle displaying his, well, you get the idea. While this was happening, a medical emergency was happening in a different part of the plane. This was exciting. At first I thought they were having one of those mystery games and all the passengers were involved. You do know how I love theatre in the round Richard.

So, with the medical emergency in one part of the plane and our free love passenger bounding back and forth, there was just one flight attendant to deal with our naked passenger/actor. She tried to cover him with a blanket but he would have none of it. Much the same way as I run from your food he ran away from the blanket and the flight attendant didn't seem keen on making a second go.

Then, like a flash two undercover air marshals were on him. I must say Richard that I almost let out a rather undignified yelp. This was good. How come you can't arrange for this kind of show on your planes? It isn't like you are focusing on any other aspect of customer service. After the men wrapped him with a blanket and secured him to a seat, the medical emergency was dealt with and a diversion was necessary.

The flight diverted to Albuquerque which is a lovely city Richard. You really should visit. I hear they have a wonderful hot air balloon festival and we know how much hot air you posses. A perfect match for you I dare say.

Alas, our time was short in the city and soon we were on our way to Los Angeles. I will be there for several days before flying back to London. I see that you have non-stops from Los Angeles to London. I'm not sure my stomach or my mind can handle it, but perhaps I will give you another chance."

Anna Sui announced a couple of weeks ago that she's making a line for Target inspired by the 4 main characters of Gossip Girl. It will be available online from September 13 to October 17. Great Finds : Lipton Milk Tea

My friend and I were passing by Shang (as usual) to hail a cab there when we saw free Lipton Milk Tea taste testing there by the grocery. We promptly lined up, what with our recent obsession with tea lattes at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. (Try their English Breakfast Tea Latte, its the best!)

Frankly I have never been a fan of tea and never planned to, until we were out with some friends and this guy was sweet enough to buy me their English Breakfast Tea Latte without me asking. I am forever thankful to him coz I have discovered the wonderful world adding-milk-to-teas hahaha. I am obssessed with that drink at Coffee Bean. So I guess you can understand why I lined up to try Lipton's Milk Tea.

Verdict? It definitely was very good, albeit a bit sweeter than my preference of it to be bland (sugar ages you, darling.). Its a very very good alternative to Coffee Bean, esp. with the price difference. And I can just enjoy it at home, I dont have to go to the coffee shop!

Leyende's Beach Bomb EDC

I've been aware of Leyende for about a year now and its one of those brands I want to try, just that I didnt know what to buy and if there was anything I need. I was in Crossings The Ramp the other day when I saw their stall. Curious, I checked out what they had. Their Beach Bomb really was what made me curious. Aside from loving the name, there was only one bottle left there. I had read many rave reviews about this EDC but unfortunately, since I couldnt smell it from Cebu (I actually messaged them before if there was anywhere in Cebu I could try to smell it.) I never got a chance to try or buy it.

When I sniffed it this time, it surprised me that it smelled so good! You can smell the coconuts in it, which would normally put me off (coconut scents for me are disgusting), but it was paired well with a floral scent that when mixed together, actually works so well you would think twice about coconut scents from now on! Now this was something you wouldnt find anywhere. Usually coconut scents in colognes/perfumes are so strong you would want to gag, but not this. The combination, for me, makes for a very explosive scent experience that I knew I couldnt leave there without getting me one, the last one! No matter if I still had my Burberry Summer or my Zara Rosa Bulgara or my friend's Violet Leaves cologne, I will make room for this on my dresser.

One of the wonderful things about this is that, when I wore it yesterday, the scent lasted alllll daaayyyy loooonnnggg. I cannot stop sniffing Leyende's Beach Bomb now that it has made me want to always be out so I can just wear it. :)

I havent been to Greenhills for the past 5 years or more. So my friend and I decided that today we would visit, and see what was new. The last I remember was being in that part where Unica Hija is, but today we definitely got lost trying to find it for a couple of hours. We enjoyed ourselves though. We checked out the tiangges and boy did my mouth water at the colorful LV patent bags... I actually wanted to buy a couple but at more than P6000+ a pop, they were way out of my budget. I did find a couple of stuff at Greenhills I wanted to show you guys.

Great Finds: Lush's Mask Of Magnaminty

For quite some time now I've been looking for a good, not too expensive (save me the P1000+ masks), clay facial mask that deep cleans and is good for oily skin. I had always remembered the Andrea Beauty Grape Clay Mask which sold for like P300 before at Beauty Bar which they dont now. As me and my friend were exiting Shang mall, we passed by Lush again, which we did everyday. I wasnt so tired from class so I decided to stop by and check outwhat they had there. The shopaholic in me has always wanted to buy just one product from that brand but I havent found one that I could use, that is, until I discovered this mask.

When I got back to the condo tonight, I tried it on right away, as I know my skin needed this so badly. Waited for it to dry and then rinsed it off. (Take note: Don't let the beads go down the sink as they may cause a clog since they're pretty big. Instead, rinse using a basin of water. When you're done, drain water then throw the beads in the trash can. :))

My skin right now feels clean... and soft! It didnt dry my skin which is pretty good. It also wasnt too hard rinsing it off my face, as compared to the almost the same product from Avon. The best part is just that it reallyfeels like my skin is clean... from the surface to deep down my epidermis. I feel like I truly found a wonder product tonight (which I blogged about right away ;)) and I know I will definitely buy this again... even if I have to have it shipped to Cebu!

When I transferred here to Manila, I decided I wouldnt buy a shoe rack, instead opting for those clear plastic shoe boxes they're selling over at Multiply. I think it is useless to do so when I will just be going back to Cebu by the end of this year and dont want the hassle of either leaving a beautiful shoe rack or shipping it back home. My friend and I were window shopping in Zara last week when she excitedly exclaimed "Oh My Gosh! They have latex leggings!", which she promptly snapped up. Since I hadn't planned on purchasing anything (I'm pitying my parents the credit card bill they're gonna get for April & May :3) I went with her to the fitting rooms just to see how it would look. Leggings have always been her thing and not mine. But when she started trying them on, my mind couldnt help thinking how great it would look on my legs haha (My only best asset ;)). Finally when she decided it was too tight on her (what with being on the heavy side) and because Zara only had it in one size, I snatched it away from her and finally tried them on myself. Voila, they looked absolutely great and sexy! And I wanted them totally for myself haha but since I was in no position to purchase them....

We struck a deal. The leggings as my birthday gift!

Not many people know this but every year, my friend Casey & I choose our own birthday gifts when its our birthday. This is so we wont get stuck getting what we dont want (which is an impossibility since we know each other inside and out) and most importantly, we get what we most want on our birthdays. Last year I got a Kate Torralba dress, and she got her most desired Charriol bangle (the cost of which I split with her boyfriend).

So anyway, I dont know if you guys have noticed, but a lot of stars have been wearing this kind of leggings lately.

Im Back.... And I Moved...!

Im finally back from a two week hiatus woohoo! Back on the internet, that is. As every day went by I felt like I was dying little by little inside because of no internet. Leave me without television but please, dont ever leave me without internet!

The reason for all this is that... I moved! I quit my job, and up and left Cebu. And then I enrolled at a fashion institute. There's nothing like making your dreams come true. ;)

I'll be back in around 6 months. For the meantime, I'd like to introduce you all to my new abode in the metropolis. We were lucky we got this unit since there were a lot of people inquiring about it. Its fully furnished, interior-decorated, and the realtor gave us a discount, after much begging on my part hehe.

This is what greets you when you open the door:

The other side of my room. Dont see a closet around? Thats it right there. A garment rack haha. How about a bathroom? Its downstairs, before the kitchen.

How did I end up with the short end of the stick?

All I have to say is, TV's gonna be moved downstairs! :D

In The Now: Head Pieces & Fascinators

Thanks to shows like Gossip Girl and the local showbiz industry, a new take on headbands and hairclips have come to emergence. When these were still new I sort of resisted it due to the big flowers I have to contend with on my head, but with the new designs I have seen coming out, I am now a convert. It makes a great fashion statement and with my imminent move to the capital city of the Philippines, for now, these are the only accessory I need. :)

First and foremost, is Matthew & Melka. Stars like Bea Alonzo, Sarah Geronimo, Camille Prats, Nikki Valdez, Maui Taylorand especially Mariel Rodriguez (who I assume absolutely loves their creations - she's their muse) have been wearing their uniquely designed pieces. Everytime they come out with a collection, it gets sold out in no time. And you are assured that what you are getting is not mass produced and pretty unique.

What Not To Buy: The Face Shop's Phytogenic Powder Foundation SPF 20

I was looking for a new powder foundation a few months ago and after realizing that L'Oreal's mineral make up foundation was a dud on me (will be in another post ;)). I decided to try out The Face Shop since Koreans always have nice and clear smooth skin (they must be doing something right!). Out of all the types of powder foundations they had, the Phytogenic stood out because of the name.

And what was best about it? The color matched my skin tone perfectly, as well as covering up my acne scars. Also, I have oily skin, and by mid afternoon it did not cake on my face much and leave some sort of mark.

I thought I had the perfect powder but alas, it wasnt to be so. A week after using this powder I noticed that I always had whiteheads on my forehead and at the bridge of my nose. I hadnt done or put anything different / new on my face so I knew the culprit was the powder.

Until now the whiteheads hasnt stopped coming and I just wish I'd finish the powder already! I cant wait. I've been hearing good things about Neutrogena (which my co-workers swear by) and MAC, so Im switching when its all used up.

I first read about Kenneth Cobonpue and his amazing talent when he was featured in a magazine because he designed the spa of an expensive resort here in the Philippines (Eskaya in Bohol, I think?). Also when his Chiquita stool was featured on Chuvaness.

Gorgeous isnt it? A piece of art you can actually use. I think he is an exemplary designer and I would actually love it if he would design my house in the future. :)

I never thought there would actually be a time when humans started being cosmetically conscious of their private parts.

I first heard about anal bleaching when I was watching 'Free Radio' the other day and they were interviewing the famous Perez Hilton. He mentioned that all the porn stars were having it done (so thats why! :D) and he even mentioned the name of the place to have it done in LA (how I wish I could check it out ;)).

I know there's bleaching over at Ruiz Derma for your tight spaces like your 'singkit' and stuff, but I never thought anal bleaching would be possible. It was one of those funny & weird ideas you didnt think would actually happen.

Budget Getaway in Panglao, Bohol

Last month I decided I have had enough of work and decided to take a much needed rest.... beach getaway! I could only schedule it on the last week of March there I was for a couple days in the sunny white sands of Bohol. It was my first time there and I was at first dismayed by the average resort prices for rooms. They ranged from P5000 above!

Not that I minded paying that kind of amount whatsoever, I just wanted the trip to be inexpensive... cheap! So I asked around my hotelier friends which beaches they recommended and one suggested Dumaluan Beach Resort, which is owned by the friend of my co-worker. Their standard rooms actually started at less than P2000 which is such a steal for Bohol. I managed to book the Junior Suite, and only at P2600 net at that... :) They are located just beside Bohol Beach Club so technically, you get all the great beachy goodness, at half the price!

Aside from the white sands, clear blue water, I'm loving that the beach is not over crowded, which I think Boracay is now since it summer season. When I'm at the beach I would love to have the place all to myself haha.

Lets take a look at our room:

TV, and ref. Too bad they didnt have a convenience store nearby so the ref was empty the whole time. They had cable which pretty much is a plus, considering that they were technically a budget resort. I've been to resorts in Cebu with over P5K pricetags for rooms and they still didnt have cable!

The bathroom was quite spacious... quite big! I loved it. I always dread small bathrooms coz I have this fear of having any part of my skin touch any tile/wall in the bathroom, I dont know why.

On the bed were a couple of towels shaped into a lotus flower. Cool. I love their presentation.

Aside from their great rooms, as a guest there you also have free wi-fi access in their restaurant. Luvet!

Try their Prawns in Crab Fat. Pricey, but really worth it. Their food prices are a bit steep, considering they were supposed to be a cheap resort (One lunch set us back 1K), so if you get tired of their prices, just walk a little bit going to Bohol Beach Club and before you reach it, there's an open air grill place there. Pay as you order and you're going to be pretty full for less than P500. :)

Next stop, Boracay on May. One of my guy friends knows of this resort in Station 2 that is actually just P2500 for a room. Can you imagine? In Bora? And thats good for 4 persons already so woah... Anyway, Im going if I have extra money. I'm still saving up because I want to go to Macau this June and watch Cirque du Soleil with a bunch of other guys. So, first priority, Macau, second, Boracay. Oh, and dont forget Camotes Island haha! I guess I have a loaded summer ahead.

I have always thought that I would only get to watch a show only when I would be in my 30's or 40's since they're usually performing in the USA, which, I have no time to visit the respective states since Im almost always just in California... So thats P50,000 back and forth ticket, plus the show ticket which would probably cost a couple of hundred dollars... Yup, no budget for it.

But lo and behold, I found out Cirque Du Soleil is also doing a show at The Venetian in Macau. Its like, Cirque Du Soleil for those on a budget! All the goodness of the show, but technically half the cost! :)

I was talking to my dad yesterday morning about how I've been wanting to buy a new mobile phone but that I couldnt afford one. What with my credit card & laptop payments, and with me quitting my job in a month. I told him I was interested either in a Motorola V9 or a Samsung Omnia. It was really just a normal conversation for me, so imagine my surprise when he came back in the afternoon to pick me up, bringing a new cellphone! Wow was I surprised... He's sooo sweet! No matter what he says, I know he got the phone for me... He keeps on denying it, but it's just too much like an Omnia for me not to think he got it for himself.

It wasnt the V9 or the Omnia, but an LG KP500, which is also a touchscreen phone. Slim, with a 3MP camera. What more could a girl ask for? I was sooo happy... I loved it! Goodbye to my mom's MyPhone, which I have been suffering, using for the last couple of months since my Motorola V3x is incapacitated. Goodbye to my ratty V3x, hello touchscreen phone!

Pepper Lunch Madness

I want to go to Manila again to eat at Pepper Lunch. Thats it. Thats my craving right now. I've been following Ms. Cecille's (dunno if I spelled it right) blog over at Chuvaness and I was mildly curious about Pepper Lunch but it was never in my priority list to try it. When Casey & I went to Manila, we'd had enough of Glorietta so decided to try Rockwell instead. Believe it or not it was my first time there. While we were at the ground floor we were looking for a place to eat. Somewhere not that poshy and not too cheap either. Somewhere middle class! Is what I would describe it. So while we were walking around we came to Pepper Lunch, and I decided right then & there that this was it! I actually didnt have high hopes for the taste since here in Cebu we have the Sizzling Pepper Steak in Terraces, which is pretty much the same concept and just look at how it is, everyone says its really bad!

Anyway, I think we ordered the number 11, the Combo Cut Steak & Hamburger. We were pretty hungry by then, after shopping for a few hours.

I never expected it was going to be sooo good and that I would actually like it! I mean, from the disappointment of Sizzling Pepper Steak, Pepper Lunch was a complete turn around. I was soo glad I got to try it coz I dont think I can live without it ever again... :) I truly truly recommend eating at Pepper Lunch, I also like how they have the sauce just right at your table and you can season to taste. The only drawback is just that by the time the pork finished cooking on our plates, there was really a lot of oil. Well anyway, I can forgive that, just coz they're so good. :)

After the disaster of PAL & Cebu Pac on my ticket, thank God there's one thing good that came out of my trip there. I am sorely tempted to go back there now. :( When will they come here to Cebu?!? God I cannot stand this... I have to get there soon!

Cisco's Crisp Choco

Everytime I see this in supermarkets or stores, I just have to buy it.

This is great for sweet tooth cravings, satisfies you, as well as doesnt let you put on the pounds. Thats not why I love it though. It just tastes sooo good. And I always love crispies dipped in chocolate. There's just something so simple about them that I love.

This also reminds me of that dessert in Waterfront's Cafe Uno. Koko Crunch dipped in milk chocolate. God, that tastes sooo good, I wanna eat there again just for that!

Anyway, I can eat the whole box in one sitting, but I usually just eat 3/4 of it. I dont wanna come home the next day and have nothing of it to munch anymore. :) So a box usually lasts me 2 days.

Manila Time On The 21st

Im off to Manila again on the 21st. My friend and I are scoring airlines for the cheapest tickets. Going there has begun to feel more like a job than a vacation these days. Its always with a purpose instead of just relaxing. Either its a dentist appointment or having to buy something which is only sold there... haayyyy....

This time my friend has a visa appointment at the US embassy, while me, on the other hand, I have a dentist appointment and I have something to purchase there. As well as picking up my brand new bag from Tiramisu and exchanging an item.

We're staying at the Bayview, for accessibility of the embassy. What Im excited about is going to the Yin & Yang shop over at the Mandarin. I first heard about the shop at Chuvaness. Bo's Coffee @ Parkmall : NOW OPEN!

I attended the opening of Bo's Coffee Shop at Parkmall the other day.

Along with the family & friends of the owners, Diether Ocampo was also there, since they are good family friends with one of the owners. He's thinner than I expected, and my god, his skin is just to die for! I just wanted to stare at his skin for hours... it was super kinis and actually glowing! Hmmm I will definitely ask him what he did to it the next time I see him here in Cebu.

The dessert table inside... mmm... unfortunately, I was watching what I was eating that time.

All the guests also had free Bo's drinks so we just had to order at the counter. I got the Mocha frappe and so far, it was mmmm...

In coffee shops I never know what I should get. I know I love frappes, yet I really hate it when they have a bitter taste. A lot of people love it, but the bitter taste in chocolates or anything else is just not for me. I'll stick with milk chocolate, thank you.

Have you been to Parkmall lately? When I was there, it was teeming with people outside, so Im pretty sure their restaurants are booming. Inside the mall, there were people also, but not as many as I would have preferred, if I was a tenant in the mall. Maybe its because there's not that many shops inside. As much as the landscaping and the design is great outside, I still think it would have been a great idea if they had put the shops outside, while the restaurants were inside. There is no doubt that people would eat, and so, in going inside, they would pass by all those shops, so there's visibility in what they're selling, and there's maximum potential for a sale.

And so, the problem lies within. Most of the people go there for the restaurants, and dont bother going inside. So the shops inside dont get maximum visibility from consumers.

That's probably why Parkmall's having a problem leasing their spaces, from what I have heard. I could be wrong though.

I still love the mall though, how they did the landscaping and stuff. :)

Eyeshadow Palettes

I am just too happy with the prevalent trend in make up recently. I happen to be a frustrated make up student wannabe (I want to study, but havent had the opportunity to.) so I am very interested how to do make up looks.

Lately make up brands have been dishing out quads and other palettes with instruction manuals to help women choose the right colors for the right look. My love for quads started last year when my friend introduced me to the Kanebo. She had been buying their products for quite some time and when I was with her at the Kanebo counter, I got curious about the cute looking eyeshadow quads. In the end I got a make over from the saleslady, who, I was surprised to find out, was properly trained by their company! When you're here in Cebu, you're pretty used to make up sales people not really knowing how to do make up and instead just sell their products, so the whole thing was surprising for me. We're having a problem with thieves these last couple of months. It all started with a man almost entering our house by shaving off the door hinges. Thankfully my brother woke up at like, 2 in the morning wondering what the awful racket was... the thief ran away when they both got a good look at each other.

The day after that incident, my brother bought a BB gun.

After that, every few weeks, our wet clothes, after laundering, seemed to make disappearing acts. And it has all boiled down to now, when finally, they have made my clothes and my intimates, for God's sakes, their victims. They took my beloved black riboon bra which I bought in Bangkok. Im crying out for I dont have matching intimates anymore! The took more than that, my maid's sure... Mom has a theory on how they've been doing it. All I want is for our home to be safe.

I guess you'll be seeing me at the Triumph store this Friday at SM North Wing. Hmph.
I want to buy a gun and kill them.
If I only had a genie! ;)

This gelato store originated in Australia, where it has quickly become the number one gelato store in the country. It now has 26 stores, both franchises & company owned, in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, as well as the Philippines. Gelatissimo's award winning gelato is made fresh daily in store to an authentic family recipe. Major mmm factor...!

As per their site, they have sundaes, coffee, chocolates, biscotti, & nougats. I sure wish they had those for sale here... I guess they're focusing on the gelato for now, seeing how the public likes it. And from what I have seen... the P90 per scoop hasnt deterred anyone yet! For the past few years there have been gelato stores that have sprung up in the city, one of the oldest being Pipo's, but they havent captured the Cebuano palette as Gelatissimo has. It seems like those other gelato stores has been holding out on ingredients from us. Gelatissimo gelato is so rich, creamy and tasty, it totally makes me forget about the price tag! Haha. Its totally worth it! Plus, their scoops arent small, their one scoop even equals a small cup! So there, you get your money's worth with this gelato shop.

When I went to their shop, one side of their display case was full of chocolate flavors.

From chocolate hazelnut to the exotic chili chocolate! They give free taste tests too. Just ask for a taste of the flavor you're thinking of having... and they dont scrimp too! They give you a spoonful for you to really taste how it is. I was tempted by the chocolate chip, even though Im not really a fan of chocolate ice cream. So I got the choc chip & my all time fave, pistacchio. They both didnt disappoint, I never expected for a gelato to be rich...

Im drooling for my next visit... I'm lining up my friends even! No takers for today, but tomorrow's another day altogether...;)

Be Trendy Day

I'm proclaiming this day to be "Be Trendy" day. Usually I dont put an effort to be trendy in my outfits, I usually go for glam, gorgeous, or laid back glam. But I have a few pieces here and there I guess other people would consider trendy. Here is my effort: (Excuse the foggy mirror. Still gotta buy a new one.)
